Privacy Policy

The short version: Terravel has no accounts and never asks for your name, email or precise location. Your saved places and collection stay on your phone. To run streaks and leaderboards, the app sends progress numbers tied to a random app ID. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, and Google receives device and ad data to do that. Terravel+ members don't see ads.

What stays on your device

Your reminders, saved places, guesses, collection and settings are stored locally on your phone. They don't leave your device unless you choose to share a card or send an optional feedback note.

What we collect, and why

DataWhat it isWhy

Your display name and scores can appear on those leaderboards.

Ad data (free version only)Collected by Google's ad SDK, not by us. See Ads below. To show ads that pay for the free version.

Like any internet request, the requests the app makes to our server and to the services below include your IP address.

What we do not collect

Ads

The free version of Terravel shows ads from Google AdMob: full-screen ads between some games, and optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch to unlock extra places for a session. Terravel+ members don't see ads, and the app doesn't request ads for them, although Google's ad SDK still starts when the app opens.

To show and measure ads, Google's SDK collects information such as your IP address (which can reveal your approximate location), device and app information, how you interact with ads, and diagnostic data. Terravel never asks for tracking permission, so Google can't access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). The app uses Google's standard ad requests: it does not ask Google for non-personalized ads, and it does not show a separate ad-consent screen. Google may use the data it receives as described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Tracking

We don't sell your data or share it with data brokers, and we don't link Terravel data with data from other companies to profile you. Terravel does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, so it can't use your advertising identifier. Google's handling of ad data is described above.

Gameplay analytics are off until you choose, and you can turn them on or off anytime in Terravel's Settings.

Third-party services

Website analytics

On terravel.ink, optional Google Analytics measures page visits, quiz play, sharing actions and App Store button clicks after you choose “Allow analytics.” Google Analytics may use cookies to distinguish visits. Advertising storage, Google signals and advertising personalization are disabled in our tag configuration. Our custom events do not include your name, your circle code, or the text of your answers.

You can choose “No thanks” and still play, or change your choice using “Analytics preferences” in the footer. We remember that preference in this browser. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control prevent our Google Analytics tag from loading. If analytics has not been configured, no Google tag is loaded.

Our website also includes Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate website traffic. Links to the App Store may include a public campaign label, such as Instagram, so Apple can report downloads attributed to our marketing. A click does not tell us that you installed the app. See Google's privacy policy and Vercel's analytics privacy details.

How long we keep data

Your choices and requests

You can turn analytics off in Settings, delete your server data with Settings → Delete my data, and remove everything stored on your phone by deleting the app.

To ask for a copy of your data, a correction or deletion, or to object to how we use it, send a request through our contact form. Because Terravel has no accounts, we may not be able to match a message to your data. If so, we'll tell you.

Children

Terravel is rated 4+ on the App Store because it has no objectionable content, but it is made for a general audience and is not directed at children. We don't ask for anyone's age and don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it. Terravel has no user-to-user messaging. Display names you choose can appear on leaderboards.

EU and UK users

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we rely on these legal bases:

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Make requests through our contact form. You can also complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.

Our server and several of the services above are in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the EU and UK.

California users

We don't sell your personal information for money. However, in the free version, Google's ad SDK receives device, ad-interaction and IP-address data that Google may use for advertising. California law may treat this as “sharing” (or, in some cases, a “sale”) of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Terravel+ removes ads. You can ask to know, delete or correct your personal information through our contact form. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
